Common route 2: A miracle that happened to me

PART 1

During the speech at the ball.

"I’m delighted to spend this evening with not only these six future kings, but with everyone here tonight." In the middle of the wide room, voice echoing across the polished floor, was the sponsor of the ball… The master of the entire castle of Nobel Michel: Lord Michel XIII. "I hope that the bonds between all of our countries will continue to grow closer and that all of our princes will bring about great development for their people." He paused to continue, "With that said, I wish that each and every one of you will enjoy tonight’s festivities to your heart’s content!"

Even as I heard that majestic welcome, my mind did not process a word of it because I could not stop staring at the sex men standing on the stage with Lord Nobel. …Th-they are all princes…

Roberto, who had escorted me to the ball…

Wilfred, who had helped pick up my things at the airport…

Beside him, a bored-looking Keith…

Joshua, with a crease in his brow as if he disapproved of the entire gathering…

Ignoring them and looking down upon the guests with a dignified expression, Glenn.

And the only figure with a gentle smiled on his face, Edward.

The word prince, always used in jest and exaggeration, suddenly was attached to a very real image in my mind. I couldn’t help remembering the conversation I’d had with my former classmate only weeks before…

At a cafe back in Oriens.

"It seems like princes should only exist in the pages of a picture book…," my friend said. "…but they really are still out there, aren’t they? Maybe you’ll meet a prince like that someday."

When I came back to reality, I was shaking my head from side to side. It doesn’t matter. Today is surely the first and last time I will ever meet any of them. If I hadn’t happened to be involved in Cynthia’s drama, I would not even be here… I don’t belong in this world. I’ll just enjoy myself for one evening and then go back where I belong. Oh, but how will I return this dress to Cynthia? I wonder if Monsieur Pierre can help me…

I was lost entirely in my own thoughts until I accidentally bumped shoulders with someone.
